Traceline · Last updated: July 3, 2026
Traceline is a private, on-device health tracker. Your data stays on your phone. There is no account, no login, and no analytics or tracking of any kind.
What Traceline stores
Sleep, mood, energy, stress, and GI ratings; heart-rate variability, resting heart rate, weight, and workout data; TRT/hormone entries (E2-feel, injection cycle, symptoms); supplement, medication, and substance logs; meal notes and any food photos you scan; genomic marker annotations you enter yourself; lab results you record; and any experiments you run.
Where it lives
All of the above is stored only on your device, using Apple's SwiftData framework. Nothing is uploaded to a server operated by Traceline's developer. There is no account, login, or analytics/tracking SDK of any kind.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
With your explicit permission, Traceline can read certain data from Apple Health — heart-rate variability, resting heart rate, and sleep duration and stages — to fill in your daily entries so you don't have to type them. This happens entirely on your device. Any data read from Apple Health is stored only on your device under the same terms as everything else described here; it is never uploaded, sold, or used for advertising, and Traceline does not use it for any purpose other than filling in the entries you see in the app. You can grant or revoke this access at any time in the iOS Health app or Settings.
What leaves the device
The only exception is meal photo scanning. If you add your own Anthropic API key and use the camera button on a meal, that photo is sent directly from your device to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis, using your own API key. Traceline's developer does not see or store a copy of that request. Anthropic's handling of that data is governed by Anthropic's own privacy policy and API terms, not this one — review those directly if you want specifics on retention or training use. If you never add an API key, or never use the camera scan feature, no photo ever leaves your device.
Backups you create
The Backup & Restore screen lets you export a JSON file containing all of the data listed above, in plain text, for your own safekeeping or migration. That file is exactly as sensitive as the app itself — treat it accordingly. Avoid sending it over channels you wouldn't trust with the original data, and delete old exports you no longer need.
Your control
You can edit or delete any entry, supplement, medication, substance, lab result, or genomic marker at any time from within the app. Deleting the app removes all of its on-device data; there is no separate copy anywhere else for Traceline to delete on your behalf, because none exists.
